Best Friend Tours
What: Best Friends Animal Society is the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in the United States. They have been saving animals for a long time, and they are a premier facility. A tour of Best Friends is a must if you come to Kanab.
When: Tours need to be signed up for in advance. 644-2001 ext. 115. You need to call Best Friends - 435-644-2001 ext. 115 to be confirmed on a tour. Usually dogs are not allowed, but this year BF is allowing the dogs of the first humans to sign up on that tour to go with them. Make sure you don't sign up during events at the Gathering you don't want to miss. Taking a tour on Thursday, or Sunday afternoon is best.
Tour Times - each 1.5 hours long.
Please arrive 15 minutes in advance of your tour to check in.
Tours are best taken before or after the Gathering, so you don't miss any Gathering Events.
Where: Tours will start at the Welcome Center at Best Friends. Take 89N to Best Friends entrance. Go about 2 miles to the Welcome Center, a stone building on your left, past the horse fields. Park in their parking lot there, and go inside the building.
Who: All participants are welcome to sign up in advance for a tour. Most Dogs are not allowed on the bus so will need to be with friends, or in car, or in hotel room if they are well behaved enough to be left there. In prior years, there have been problems leaving dogs in hotel rooms, so do make sure you know your dogs' tolerances.
This year you can also contact Kathleen Burke, and she will pet sit your hounds for you. Phone – 435-899-9245
