FUN-draising - Greyhound Gathering Kanab 2010

Zola

The money raised at Greyhound Gathering - Kanab goes to rescue more hounds at Almost Home for Hounds. AHH has an average of 50 hounds waiting for homes all the time. And constant requests to take more.

Food alone is about $1200 a month. Supplies (all spay/neuters, dentals, routine surgeries and daily care are done by Dr. Heather Weir, pro-bono) are about $1500 a month. There are utility bills and operational bills. There are travel bills to move hounds to groups who find them homes. Needless to say, there are endless bills. But there's a purpose. A definite purpose.

Zola, pictured here, was a brood taken in at AHH. She was extensively raced, and then bred for at least 77 puppies. She found her way to AHH, and was loved for 5 years. Her daughter continues to be loved, and is at the Gathering - Allie.

Without AHH, those hounds would not have found loving homes.

Here are the chances you will have to help the hounds, and have fun doing it.

Live Auctions
Everyone loves LIVE AUCTIONS!  At every lunch and dinner, we have about 20 special items to be bid on LIVE.  Bidding starts at one price, then you shout out your bid, and get noticed by our extraordinary auctioneer, Dolly Young.  Bidding continues until there are no more bids and the item is yours.  Payment made at time of bid.  (Cash, Checks, Visa/MC/Discover accepted)

On Friday night, we will be Live Auctioning a behind-the-scenes tour of Best Friends DogTown on Sunday with John Garcia.  John, BF Dog Trainer appears on DogTown Natl Geographic. You’ll meet pit bulls rescued from Michael Vicks, puppy mills, hoarding and more. Ann Allums, of DogTown, has also offered a training lesson. Molly Wald, BF staff photographer, offers a private photo session. These Best Friends staffers are donating their time on Sunday afternoon for the winners.

Other items to be Live auctioned include: Life Sized Greyhound Statue, Blanket, Greyhound Pal, Framed Pictures, Original statue from UK, Big Chimes, Memory Box and more.

Silent Auction
